Sue and John live in a small quiet town in Essex in the UK. Sue worked in a library three years ago but now she’s a housewife. Her husband, John, is a university teacher. They got married twenty-five years ago and have three children; two boys and a girl. Their daughter is a secondary school teacher. She’s married and John and Sue’s first grandson was born four months ago. His name is Jude and he’s a beautiful, happy baby.
Their sons aren’t married. They are still at university. The oldest, Thomas, wants to be a doctor and his brother, Mark is studying engineering. Their house isn’t very big but it’s got two gardens. Sue grows only flowers in the small front garden and has flowers and vegetables in the large back garden. She loves gardening and spends a lot of time outside when the weather is fine. John likes gardening but in spring and summer, he prefers to go to the river to fish in his small boat. Sue doesn’t like fishing and when she goes in the boat with John, she always takes a good book to read.
Sue and John have another hobby. They love dancing, but not modern dancing. They dance old British folk dances. They also wear traditional costumes when they are dancing. There are twelve people in the Folk Dancing Club. Some dance and some play old musical instruments. It is very interesting and Sue and John enjoy Tuesday and Thursday evenings when they go to practise. At carnival time, or at festivals, they dance in public. They dance in villages and towns all over the UK and sometimes in other countries too. Last year, they went to Germany to dance at a beer festival.
